The Wild, Wonderful, Totally True Stories Behind My Upcycled Silverware Jewelry Booth

If you’ve ever wandered through an art show and stumbled into my little corner of the world, you already know: my handcrafted silverware jewelry comes with stories — and the customers bring the best ones.

Every spoon ring, every upcycled silverware cuff, every quirky flatware creation seems to attract people with the most unforgettable moments. These are the stories that make my booth feel less like a shop and more like a tiny traveling community of badass women, sentimental souls, and creative geniuses.

Here are a few of my favorites....

1. The BADASS Pilot & the Celebrity Cockpit Crew

A couple stopped by looking for a gift for their daughter — a pilot who had just been promoted from Delta’s smaller fleet to the main Delta fleet. That’s like going from “I fly planes” to “I fly the planes people write movies about.”

They picked up my BADASS spoon cuff bracelet and said, “This is the one.”

Why? Because on one of her flights, the entire crew was female — and the passengers included Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, and John Stamos.

After landing, the celebrities stepped into the cockpit. Mila took one look at the all‑female crew and declared:

“BADASS.”

And honestly? Same Mila. Same. That cuff was meant for her and that’s exactly the energy I want in my silverware jewelry.

2. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Moment

A woman walked into my booth wearing a Marvelous Mrs. Maisel baseball cap. Naturally, I guided her straight to my “Tits Up” spoon cuff — a fan‑favorite in my collection of upcycled silverware jewelry.

I asked, “Are you a Maisel fan?”

She smiled and said, “Yes — my son was the costume director on the show.”

I nearly fell over! Somewhere out there, a Maisel costume designer’s mom is wearing one of my hand-stamped spoon cuffs, and that alone makes my entire year.

3. The Rule‑Breaker with the Dainty Fingers

A group of women came through during their “first pass” of the Artwalk — and apparently, they have a rule:

No one buys anything until all booths have been visited.

But one woman, wearing zero jewelry, slipped on a spoon ring and froze.

Then she said the words every maker dreams of hearing:

“I know I’m breaking our rule, but I can never find a ring dainty enough for my fingers that is this cool.”

Rule broken. Ring sold. Friend group forgiven.

This is why I love making handcrafted spoon rings — they fit real people, real hands, real stories.

4. The Accidental Genius Who Invented My Next Product

Early in a show, a woman bought two of my knife‑vase magnets

— part of my quirky line of upcycled flatware home décor.

Then she asked:

“Can I have the other magnet?”

I blinked. “The… other magnet?”

She looked at me like I was the confused one and said:

“Well, they’re boutonnieres, right? You attach them to your shirt with the magnets?”

My jaw dropped. She had just invented the world’s coolest magnetic boutonniere — using my upcycled silverware vases.

I thanked her profusely. And yes… I will absolutely be remarketing them as vases/boutonnieres from now on.

5. The Women of Nature Fans Who Invented Yet Another New Use for My Spoon Rings

And then there were the two ladies who spent a solid ten minutes ooo‑ing and ahhh‑ing over my Women of Nature Spoon Rings — the kind of joyful, sparkly admiration that makes my whole booth light up. As they tried them on, one of them paused, tilted her head, and asked, “Could these be used as scarf slides?”

I nearly hugged her. “Absolutely! In fact, that is a fantastic alternate idea for these creations.”

She slipped her scarf through the ring to test it out, and let me tell you — it looked adorable. Like “why haven’t we been marketing them this way all along?” adorable. So yes, scarf‑slide styling is officially being added to the branding of this collection, because my customers keep proving that upcycled silverware jewelry has more lives than a cat with a passport.

Why These Stories Matter (and Why I Love This Work)

Every piece of silverware jewelry I make starts as something ordinary — a forgotten fork, a retired spoon, a vintage flatware pattern waiting for a second life.

But the people who wear them? They’re extraordinary.

These stories remind me that:

  • handcrafted jewelry carries emotion
  • upcycled silverware carries history
  • spoon rings carry rebellion and romance
  • and the people who choose handmade always bring the magic

This is why I do what I do. This is why I love what I do. And this is why every show feels like a new chapter in the world’s most delightful book.
