Cake Server Hair Barrette - Inauguration

A vintage Danish cake server is the backbone of this barrette. When it arrived in the studio, we gently removed the handle, curved the silverplate into this soft half‑moon shape, and paired it with a hair stick made from a vintage iced teaspoon. A great marriage of two pieces of old‑school craftsmanship repurposed into something that’s sturdy, reliable, and unexpectedly modern.

The punched filigree pattern isn’t just decorative; it lightens the metal and gives your hair places to anchor, so the barrette grips without feeling heavy. It’s functional design disguised as ornament. And because these Made in Denmark servers are genuinely hard to find, each piece ends up being a small run—almost like a limited‑edition tool for your hair rather than a mass‑produced accessory.

Condition: Please note, this is an antique item that was once used as a utensil. As a result, there may be some wear to the silver-plate, fine scratches or marks from use. But some wear gives the piece patina and personality. We do our best to disclose any condition issues of note. There is a little bit of pocking on the silverplate of one of the two highlighted here that you can see in the last photo. It is not too bad and really does not detract from the piece as a whole.
