Buckles & Bits Necklace | 1920s Belt Buckle & Silverware Bits #5122
Our newest line of necklaces made from upcycled materials is very exciting. These double strand statement necklaces incorporate vintage 1920s belt buckles along with our signature upcycled silverware designs.
We’d been itching to make a bigger, bolder statement necklace — something that mixed our beloved vintage silverware with earthy, grounded beads to balance all that shiny metal.
And if you’ve been around a while, you know Laughing Frog Studio was born out of years of treasure‑hunting through antiques. So, while digging through one of my bins of vintage oddities, I stumbled across the coolest old belt buckle and instantly thought, well hello, statement necklace.
Turns out the buckle was a 1920s Giant Grip piece — one of the brand names used by Samuel Buchsbaum & Co. of Chicago. According to the 1934 Keystone Jewelry Trade Mark Book, Buchsbaum was a wildly inventive designer with patents for everything from belt buckles to shoe gadgets to hinged vanity boxes.
So of course we had to give his work a second life… Laughing Frog Studio‑style.

For all of our designs we choose wonderful authentic vintage/antique silverware. Once chosen, the pieces are modified and beautified by HAND; they are cut, drilled, filed and polished, etc. We do not cast/mold any of our designs, they are all handmade, one-of-a-kind creations. All of our creations are handmade - as such no two items are exactly alike.
Condition: Please note, this is an antique item that was once used as a utensil. As a result, there may be some wear to the silver-plate, fine scratches or marks from use. But some wear gives the piece patina and personality. We do our best to disclose any condition issues of note.
