Fork Elephant Necklace with A Bite Out - #6231

This fork elephant necklace began its life as a rescued vintage silverplate fork — one of those forgotten kitchen drawer relics that gets a second chance in my studio. What once served dinners is reimagined into a tiny, joyful piece of wearable art that always sparks the question, “Wait… this used to be a fork?”

This particular elephant carries an extra layer of meaning. It started as a custom request inspired by the well‑known phrase, “How do you eat an elephant?” Answer: “One bite at a time.” I hadn’t heard it before (and yes, I absolutely made my own little tine joke about it "One bite at a tine"), but I fell in love with the message.

As I shaped this little pachyderm, it became a reminder that small steps, small bites, small moments — that’s how we move through the hard stuff. It’s amazing how a tiny piece of silver can hold so much meaning.

The bitten elephant hangs from a silverplate chain. Because every vintage fork begins with its own pattern and history, each elephant develops its own expression as it’s shaped — no two are ever identical.

To create each pendant, the fork is cut from its original handle (which becomes another upcycled treasure). The tines are hand‑contoured, stamped, and polished until the sweetest little elephant emerges.

A charming reminder that sustainable jewelry can be soulful, stylish, and full of personality — and that sometimes the smallest talismans carry the biggest truths.
