Knife Vase or Boutonniere with Magnet - QUEEN BESS
This magnetic Knife Vase carries nearly a century of history in its small, shining frame. What began as a vintage silver‑plate holloware knife handle—once set at dinner tables, passed through hands, and tucked into family drawers—now lives a new life as a tiny vessel for fresh blooms. It’s a gift that feels personal, nostalgic, and wonderfully unexpected.
Each vase is created by cutting the handle at its naturally hollow point, then shaping, grinding, filing, and buffing the metal until it’s smooth and soft with age. A strong magnet is added to the back, turning a forgotten piece of silverware into a little hanging vase ready for a sprig of rosemary, a wildflower, or a single perfect bud.
This one is made from Tudor Plate’s Queen Bess II, a pattern introduced in the early 1940s—a time when floral motifs were meant to bring comfort and beauty into American homes during uncertain years. Its sweeping blossoms and gentle curves were designed to feel hopeful, feminine, and familiar. That quiet optimism still lingers in the metal, even now.

For all of our designs we choose wonderful authentic vintage/antique silverware. Once chosen, the pieces are modified and beautified by HAND; they are cut, drilled, filed and polished, etc. We do not cast/mold any of our designs, they are all handmade, one-of-a-kind creations. All of our creations are handmade - as such no two items are exactly alike.
Condition: Please note, this is an antique item that was once used as a utensil. As a result, there may be some wear to the silver-plate, fine scratched or marks from use. But some wear gives the piece patina and personality. We will do our best to disclose any condition issues of note.
