One stand-out thing I have noticed since moving to Texas is that Texans have a lot of pride in their state. So, I decided to honor that pride with a Texas Pride Spoon Charm Necklace. By the way, I wasn't even sure charm necklaces were a thing - turns out they are.

This necklace is comprised of various Texas-centric charms, most of which are made from upcycled vintage spoon handles of souvenir spoons that were highly collectible during the middle 20th century.

In addition to the spoon charms, we have added silverplate and pewter charms as well as yellow (hello, yellow rose of Texas) a clear beads.

The focal piece of the necklace is an "S" monogrammed vintage 1920s Giant Grip silverplate belt buckle. I chose this buckle because while the design is technically Art Deco, the vibe is modernist steer head and just paired so nicely with this Texas themed necklace.

“Giant Grip" was one of the brand names used by Samuel Buchsbaum & Co. of Chicago, according to The Keystone Jewelry Trade Mark Book, 1934 edition. It turns out that Mr. Buchsbaum was a prolific designer and inventor. He applied for many patents from various belt buckles to an anti-friction device for shoes to a dresser hinged vanity box from 1915-1922.

All the pieces hang from a silverplate paper clip chain which is so on trend right now.

The necklace is about 17" in total length with about an 8.5"drop from neck.

For all of our designs we choose wonderful vintage/antique silverplate cutlery. Once chosen, the pieces are modified and beautified by HAND; they are cut, drilled, filed and polished. We do not cast/mold any of our designs, they are all handmade, one-of-a-kind creations.

Condition: Please note, this is an antique item that was once used as a utensil. As a result, there may be some wear to the silver-plate, fine scratches or marks from use. But some wear gives the piece patina and personality. We do our best to disclose any condition issues of note.
