Spoon Charm Necklace - TEXAS PRIDE - #5901
One thing that stood out to me after moving to Texas is just how much Texans love their state—there is serious pride here. So I decided to honor that spirit with a Texas Pride Spoon Charm Necklace. And fun fact: I wasn’t even sure charm necklaces were still a thing… turns out, they definitely are.
This necklace features a collection of Texas‑centric charms, many of which are made from upcycled vintage souvenir spoon handles—those highly collectible mid‑20th‑century treasures. To complement them, I added silverplate and pewter charms, along with yellow beads (a little nod to the Yellow Rose of Texas) and clear accents.
The focal point of the piece is a vintage 1920s Giant Grip silverplate belt buckle. While its design is technically Art Deco, the energy feels like a modern, stylized steer head, making it the perfect anchor for this Texas‑themed piece.
“Giant Grip” was one of the trademarks used by Samuel Buchsbaum & Co. of Chicago, documented in The Keystone Jewelry Trademark Book (1934). Buchsbaum was surprisingly prolific—holding patents for everything from belt buckles to an anti‑friction shoe device to a hinged vanity box between 1915 and 1922.
All of the charms hang from a silverplate paper‑clip chain—which, conveniently, is very on‑trend right now.
The necklace is about 17" in total length with about an 8.5"drop from neck.
For all of our designs we choose wonderful authentic vintage/antique silverware. Once chosen, the pieces are modified and beautified by HAND; they are cut, drilled, filed and polished, etc. We do not cast/mold any of our designs, they are all handmade, one-of-a-kind creations. All of our creations are handmade - as such no two items are exactly alike.
Condition: Please note, this is an antique item that was once used as a utensil. As a result, there may be some wear to the silver-plate, fine scratches or marks from use. But some wear gives the piece patina and personality. We do our best to disclose any condition issues of note.
