Sterling Fork Elephant Necklace - GORHAM BUTTERCUP - #4474

Regular price $85.00 Sale

Our Fork Elephant necklace is created from an upcycled antique sterling silver fork. The fork elephant is one of our favorite designs as well as a customer favorite! To make this silverware creation, a sterling fork was cut from its handle, which was used in another creation, then hand contoured, stamped and polished into this adorable pachyderm.

This stunning sterling silver elephant is made from silver pattern with such a sweet name - Buttercup. Buttercup was a silver pattern of the Gorham Manufacturing Company and was an extremely popular design. This is SOLID silver - this is not silverplated. Buttercup the elephant is adorned with flowers on both sides of her back.

This piece of silverware comes from the estate of Polly Bigger. Polly was born in Louisiana. After WWII she and her husband moved to Mt. Vernon, Iowa where her husband earned his degree from Cornell College. Later they owned Bigger Flower Shop & Greenhouse in Iowa. Polly loved her family, she loved to cook (southern style) and she loved to share family stories. You are now owning something that Polly loved and cherished.
